    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My placement gave me an opportunity to work and rotate around various areas of my role. (HR) I have also had the opportunity to network and meet other placement students & graduates, who I have made good friends with.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues are all very supportive in making sure that I make the most out of my placement. I am always challenged by them to take on more work which has widened my knowledge in my role

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was assigned a mentor and a buddy who supported my from Day one of my placement. They were the people I would go to if I was not sure about what I was doing. These people have great experience within my role so it is nice to always engage with them.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As I progressed throughout my placement, my workload progressively increased as well due to the trust your managers starts to build with you. The work load I received was not too much that I couldn't handle, but it was enough to keep me very busy. Within HR as a placement student, you tend to receive work from various managers who will all give you various deadline. So being organised and time management is key.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My placement responsibility increased over the months. After 6 months on my placement , I was assigned to manage 3 different projects and teams. I have been given full control of the project which I now take lead on.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Although placement are there to open doors for you in your future, I believe it is important to have real day to day responsibility. the responsibilities I have received from Fujitsu will now allow me to successfully pick a dissertation topic. I now have in-depth knowledge about HR which I feel confident in applying to my degree.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • This will depend on your based location. Whilst in Bracknell, the vibe was buzzing and very busy. Now in London, the vibe is more corporate due to London being our main head office

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement at Fujitsu is well structure. will have compulsory modules /events over the year which will all have to attend to in London. This is always a great time to meet as a cohort and socialise as well.

  • You are able to sign unto various training course with your managers approval.

  • Throughout the placement, you are reminder to have a high performance in order to return back as a graduate. We are always encourage to return back.

  • Placement students and graduates tend to go out quite a lot. A Social event it always available

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Bracknell is quite a good price, london is more expensive

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Bracknell/Reading is lively due to how many placement and graduates are based there. Not just in Fujitsu but other companies around
