    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I love my job, every day is different and I'm never bored even though it's been a steep learning curve.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues accepted me very quickly and I always make a point of saying hello to them every morning. They are very supportive with both work and home matters.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My boss is always here to support me and answer any questions, it's really handy sharing an office with him and having the relationship where we can talk about most things.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I'm never bored although there are peaks and troughs in the work flow especially when working to a deadline on a project.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given lots of responsibility such as running the company stocktake and being a team leader, I also coordinated movements for our satellite sites. I was always supported and people understood if things didn't go right first time because I'm learning.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I've learnt about management and how to operate in a working environment. Although my degree is not in Aviation, I have seen things that will help me with the final two years of my degree and it has been an invaluable opportunity.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My boss and I get on great, we're having a laugh and banter but can always bounce ideas off each other for projects. I feel comfortable being here.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I was given my job offer a week after attending my interview. There were a few hiccups with HR as to who my boss is and my start date but it wasn't rushed at all so I was able to find accommodation with ease.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I attended GE training days and participated in all sorts of online training course. As a company GE are very keen to get you to develop and offer different graduate programmes.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would apply for a graduate job with GE on their OMLP or Edison programmes but in Healthcare over Aviation as this is more geared toward my degree.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There is a tight group of interns, OMLPs, apprentices and young people within our site. We also connect with other young people at other GE sites in the local area and go for nights out or to the cinema.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Drinks in Cheltenham are expensive (£4.65+ a pint) and living costs are also dear in the centre of town. Towards the outskirts you can get more for your money and the bus service is great so living in the centre of town is not the be all and end all.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are all sorts of clubs in Cheltenham for every taste, Subtone and Thirteen are great. There is a strong student population here too and Monday is student night on the town.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As with any town or city there are opportunities to get involved with outside of work, there are many sports clubs for example it just depends what you're in to.

    4/5
