    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My placement year was absolutely brilliant. In my opinion everyone should do a placement year if they have the opportunity.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I never felt like the 'placement student' and was never referred to as the 'student.' I immediately felt part of the team,

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support provided by my line manager and the HR team was more than sufficient throughout the year

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The placement progressed well with my days and weeks becoming more busy the longer I had been with the company and the more experienced I became

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Level of responsibility was ideal and more than I imagined before starting.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The practical elements of the placement will definitely compliment the theory studied at university

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone in the office is approachable and friendly, however, generally the office was quite quiet.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Cannot complain - from start to finish HR kept us informed and updated as to what was required from us. The assessment centre was superbly run and very well organised.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As mentioned already, I attended IT courses to help me develop skills specific to my job function. These were run by HR with the support of my manager. I also went on some media and buying training courses run by our agency client

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Above 25 days holiday

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I believe the chances are quite high. Previous placement students who now have permanent roles at the company have said their placement year was key to them getting a job as they were already familiar with the industry and the company

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • This was one of the most appealing parts to gaining a placement with the VW Group. As there are 5 main brands under one roof, plus financial services just across the road, there were about 25 students on placement at the same time. As a result, it felt like we were back at university in the evenings and the weekends.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • About standard really in my view. Housing and socialising wasn't overly expensive, but wasn't massively cheap either

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There was a choice of about 5 or 6 clubs with your standard revolution and a large club called Wonderworld. The nightlife was good enough for the year

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were opportunities although they were not greatly advertised to colleagues in my opinion. I did get involved with a 5-a-side club

    3/5
