    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I particularly enjoyed my first 3 weeks, carrying out audit procedures.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone at E&Y made me feel very welcome, and even if they were extremely busy, they were never too busy to answer my questions.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • If you show that you are keen to learn and that you want to take initiative, and you ask insightful questions, the managers will try to help you get the most out of the internship.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On my first 3 weeks, I was busy every day, but at the same time, I was never required to work late. The last 2 weeks have been much quieter, but I have been proactive in getting myself things to do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A great deal more than you would expect on a 6 week internship. E&Y treat you like a first year graduate!

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I am hoping that a little experience in audit will help me with my 3rd year audit paper. But if not, I know that this placement will help me in my accounting qualifications next year, and also has given me valuable work experience that will carry in any job in the future.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I only spent 2 days in the office over the 6 week period, as I was always at client sites. Everyone is working hard, but there are times when a good chat will start.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The whole internship was set up from start to finish very well. Even the induction week was set up meticulously.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt that everyone spent a lot of time explaining things to me, and answering my questions.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Fingers crossed for next week when I find out :)

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I have made some great friends with other interns, even though we hardly saw each other during the placement.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Reasonable compared to London, where I live.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Lively as far as I have seen. I will know more by the end of the week :)

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes! Especially amongst the interns, but even other staff invited us out to after work drinks. Also, there is an Audit Sports Day this week, which should be great fun.

    4/5
