    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Really enjoyed it! On the first two day we had generic training for all the spring interns together in one room. We had the chance to play games like asset management games and a market maker/trading game where we were basically screaming our bids and getting to know each other really well.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Felt extremely valued. During our spring week, we had a work shadowing part of the program. We were given the chance to meet the head of UK in our division who welcomed us to the spring week and emphasised their strong belief in graduation recruitment.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Everybody really took care of us. Even before the spring program started, we were in touch with a member of graduation recruitment, a representative of the division at the director level and a buddy who has took a similar route as us into Deutsche Bank.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Definitely really useful. We had a better understanding of how the division works (it's more niche than others) so it's really cool to get to know another aspect of the investment banking business in general.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Clear timetables for the plan on each day. While the first two days were very structured with planned presentations and talks, your mileage may vary for the two work shadowing days. I was extremely lucky in that my buddy and supervisor were very proactive in arranging for me to meet loads of their colleagues in the division.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everybody were really nice! Everybody had no qualms about giving up some time in their day to explain a little about what they do for the business and to share with us how they think the business will be like when we join as graduates.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company definitely invested a lot of time (which equals money). Our buddies arranged for us to meet many leaders in the business who gladly took time off their busy schedules to share their business with us.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • In the work shadowing aspect of the spring internship, we really got to see how a trader (for example) in the division takes position for clients or how a sales person explain to a client how a product fits with their needs.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • In general, the friendliness of literally everybody we met was contagious and you really could not feel more at home. I think culture is something that is difficult to feign when you experience it first hand so I can safely say that the company culture at Deutsche Bank is indeed one that is extremely friendly.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Totally understood the general structure of the business, saw the different areas and most importantly walked away with a pretty decent idea the departments in which I can fit in the business

    4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Reimbursement is still being processed at time of writing.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Definitely! Refer to above responses.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • This could have been done better I guess. We had a simple tapas dinner with HR on the first day and a simple lunch with our buddies and supervisors on the last day. It would have been great to have a simple dinner or lunch with some leaders in the business to better understand their roles in an intimate environment.

    2/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Not really. We had a talk on CSR which to be honest was quite generic so more could be discussed (or perhaps more opportunities for employees outside work can be instituted).

    2/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Definitely! It was awesome for all the reasons above!
