About You
I'm sad the two weeks are over.
I felt like my opinion mattered to people. It was great to get the chance to walk a senior lawyer through a detailed piece of resarch I had done. My work was used by my trainee mentor, which felt satisfying.
Whenever I asked for help, people were happy to explain things and spend time teaching you. If you asked for feedback, you would get it.
As a non-law student, it was great to get a flavour of the actual law and what a trainee typically does. It will certainly help when I begin the GDL.
The Company
I knew exactly what I was doing and where I was supposed to be at all times! The programme gave a great insight into all aspects of the life and culture at the firm.
Everyone was extremely friendly and there was always a welcoming atmosphere.
Everyone spent as much time as you needed to explain things. There were lots of talks on various Practices, giving everyone a good idea of what the firm does.
I feel that I was given a variety of typical trainee tasks, allowing me to develop an accurate view of the life of a trainee.
I know now the culture of the firm very well, and maintain that I would not have had the same insight if I had not completed the Vacation Scheme.
Everything Else
I was paid an amount for each week.
You could approach anyone and get to know them. There were plenty of opportunities at social events.
It was a mix of drinks and dinners, which gave plenty of scope to get to know trainees and the firm better.
Yes, there are sports on offer, as well as informal drinks and socials.
I would recommend this to anyone thinking of working in a global law firm in a smaller team.
