About You
This was a very enjoyable week for me, there were a great bunch of Spring interns, everyone at the network sessions were nice and the whole timetable was full and interesting but didn't take too much out of you.
The programme was very much geared towards providing us with the most interesting and useful experience possible. A considerable amount of time was provided for work shadowing despite the analysts being very busy. Networking tea was organised with Directors in the firm. A panel of directors judged the project we worked on during the week. And presentations were provided by bankers from analyst to partner.
A whole host of skills sessions were provided to help with the group project and beyond, such as computer skills sessions, presentation sessions, personal branding, and interview skills sessions. Advice on applications was also provided, so all in all a great deal of support was provided for us!
Pretty much all of the skills will be useful in general, not just for a potential career in banking.
The Company
As previously mentioned, the day was packed with an interesting mix of presentations, networking and project time that left you with enough energy to do extra project work after the day had finished if you wanted
Everyone got along really well, there was no "negative" sense of competition and all the groups talked to each other and offered each other help and advice. We all went out for drinks and a meal on the Friday too so overall the atmosphere was really friendly
As previously mentioned, a lot of skills work shops and presentations were provided, which were useful for both the whole week and for the future as well
The work shadowing was extremely helpful as I could see the type of work I would be doing, as well as get an honest and blunt overview from the analysts. Furthermore the project work gave a good sense of the kind of things that I'd be doing in a full time job.
I got to understand what kind of person would fit in well at Rothschild and the general attitude at the firm, which really made me want to undertake an internship here!
Comprehensive overviews of all the aspects of GFA were provided and a whole range of interesting questions were explained. Other areas were also explained, which helped me to understand where I would like to work in the future.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed both travel and lodging expenses
Plenty of chances to meet with analysts, all the presenters welcomed us to ask further questions when we were free, and we had tea with the directors
First night was a "welcoming social" which was really good. We also went out for drinks and a meal on the Friday
Analysts told us about various different kinds of trips and charitable activities
