  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • I thoroughly enjoyed my time at UmPhafa! I got to work with some amazing people and follow the magnificent animals for 2 months straight. I would greatly recommend it!

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • The reserve co-ordinators helped me with my research projects by teaching me easy methods that they use on the reserve regularly. I also had amazing game keepers helping me out with my research and showing me around the reserve until I knew it well enough to venture out alone.

    • Out in the reserve conducting research for 5 days a week.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • I was conducting my own research project with some input from the co-ordinators of the reserve. I was free to walk around the reserve alone.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • I gained skills and experience that have helped me, and will carry on helping me along my career path. The research I conducted on the reserve, and the help from all the staff allowed me to gain a great mark on my university dissertation, I owe them a lot =]

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • No office, but the house we stayed in had great company and we all got along well.

    • Very well organised, easy to communicate to ensure before and after as well as during the internship ran smoothly.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • All students and colleagues got along well, and socialized on the weekends and in the evenings.
