    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I did enjoy my placement, but I think I would have yielded even better results if I would have been taken more seriously

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My work colleagues very excellent, the reason I did not feel bored at work, especially the brain storming sessions and working collectively to make proposals and be creative in our work. Our race was never a barrier as I had colleagues from many countries.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The management gave me tasks without any support or guidance. My initiative for different things went in waste, as I never got appreciated for those. Always received praises from my work colleagues but never from the management.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There were times where I would not have time to eat lunch and at other times I would be bored surfing the internet ! it depended on the traffic of customers and also about completing tasks. As I said above some days were challenging while others were chilled out

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • For some tasks like organizing the exhibition stand or seminars I was 100% responsible while for others I took prior approval beofr submitting final work.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It actually showed me the picture of real world. I came to knwo what could be real business problems specially working for a small/medium sized organization. The training I received was for Call Center course was fabulous as I learnt a lot in that. I probably have more real -life examples to talk, discuss and write in my exams than before!

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Well as I worked in an environment where a lot of students were involved therefore the atmosphere was always chirpy with potential customers to existing students coming up for general counselling. At lunch time we did not have any customers so the meeting room would convert in lunch room where all of the staff would share food and have a good laugh!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • As discussed earlier, it was the first - time a student was doing a placement at this college there fore there was no set framework of my placement. It was me who took the initiative and got the most out of this placement where I created opportunities, worked with many different departments like Fashion designing IATA courses as well as establishing a call center and promoting its courses to corporate clients.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given Free Call Center Training course. I was very content with it. Being a academic organization, getting free training paid off.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Healthcare from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The chances of working with this organization are good in the future but I would prefer to work in an organization where I have prospects to build my career and specialize into a particular field which I will not get from this organization as they are many cons in the management structure.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I did not have any fellow placement students. N/a

    0/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Accommodation is very expensive in the UAE. I had advantage as I had my immediate family living with me. But if any other student want to work in the UAE they should work in an organization whcih provides them with accomodation either shared or single.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • UAE is a conservative country but Abuy dhabi has got an amazing social scene with and have loads of British people in here. Any how Dubai is like a 1.5 hours drive away which has plenty of world class Partaaaaaaying spots!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • there are so many different activites to do, cycling, swimming, gyming clubbing, restaurants are the best from the world, cuisines from all around the world and practically anything one can think of!
