  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The people at Thales are very friendly and helpful and they give you valuable work

  • I was helping out my colleagues by designing test equipment that they wanted

  • My manager was very helpful and regularly took time out to help me

  • I was given several projects but felt that I could have handled more

  • The work I was doing was on very large projects and was important

  • I learnt new CAD skills, mechanical drawing and design skills and experience as well as laboratory working and experiment planning.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There is an ageing population in the office but they are working to bring in more graduates making it more fun

  • I had a couple of projects organised for me but could have done more and also there were inevitable issues with IT

  • They gave me access to CAD tools

  • Having done two internships with Thales now I am much more likely to get a job offer

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There are many graduates who organise pub trips, nights out etc.. We also always ate lunch together.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I study in London so it was much cheaper to live out in Somerset for me.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • At the Templecombe site it is a very small village. There are a few local towns like Yeovil and Salisbury but it's hard to get around on public transport

  • There was a football team and some people organised hikes
