  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The placement was highly interesting with lots of hands on experience and managerial experience gained. It has been a huge benefit to myself.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All staff who work alongside you, for you and above you are highly friendly. They make you feel very welcome and part of the team instantly.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The Aldi training scheme is a fantastic scheme, they give you excellent levels of training and then allow you to display those skills adapted in real business situations.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The content daily was excellent, the work load is vast, however good time management makes completing this, easy and efficient.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • It is unbelievable how much experience and responsibility Aldi allow you, you run a store for 5 weeks, as well as the projects at head office, which are actually rolled out and used on both a regional and potentially national level.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I gained have already made visible changes to my performance at University, the work is a lot more familiar as you are more related to business terms, and you can relate situations to your work placement. 5* and I would recommend a placement to anyone.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office side was great, as was the stores.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement set up was fantastic, although you have fixed holidays, 2 weeks off over Christmas and New Year is unheard of in retail, however, we were given this. You are never without a duty, due to the tight training programme schedule.

  • Priceless amounts of training is invested into you, and this is visible throughout your learning experience.

  • Pending a 2:1, you have the opportunity to return on the graduate scheme, in a 'fast track' mode.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • You become very close to your colleagues and I have built excellent friendships with my placement peers.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home for the year, however my colleagues could not do this due to travel times, they lived rent free in a company flat.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I lived at home, so the nightlife was standard, however the salary you are on at Aldi, enables you to go wherever you would like. It is affordable.

  • Yes, plenty of opportunities to enjoy activities outside of work.
