  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I had a well defined role with a good level of responsibility.

  • Everyone I worked with was very friendly and helpful.

  • I had an induction week with one-to-one training from different members of the team.

  • I was in control of my own projects but was always able to leave on time.

  • I was responsible for researching, producing and editing two departmental newsletters.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It gave me a good impression of what working at the firm as a trainee will be like, as I gained a good knowledge of the computer system and the office.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • We had monthly departmental drinks and there was a constant supply of birthday cake. Most people ate together for lunch unless they were too busy.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I had a hand over week from the previous paralegal and I did the same for the one after me. I had thorough training and there was always someone to ask if I was stuck.

  • I had an induction week where I gained training in every area I needed.

  • I am really looking forward to starting as a trainee.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I usually went to lunch with trainees and also took part in social events organised by the firm. There wasn't anything specifically organised for paralegals while I was there though.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • For central London, there are some cheaper areas in Shoreditch.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I really enjoyed the atmosphere in Exchange Square - during the summer there are lots of events and it's great to go for a drink on the lawn.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Lots of CSR activities were available - I entered the Great City Run with the HSF team.
