The Role
Really enjoyable experience, good to be able to apply uni content in a working environment.
More of a learning experience than providing invaluable material, but was given the opportunity to submit some reports that were used, which was very rewarding.
Placement manager and mentors were spot on, and I was sat right next to them so was constantly picking their brains if I had a problem. Felt comfortable from the word go.
Always had things to crack on with, but didn't feel overly pressurized by any of my supervisors. The only pressure I was put under which was by myself when I was aiming to get work finished.
Again not an enormous amount as it was more of a learning experience than being used as a work horse. The work that I was asked to do for submission gave me some responsibility, which I felt happy with.
It was my first opportunity to apply the knowledge I'd gained at university, and be a part of a team where I felt like the graduate, which I know will be the case when I get a full time job.
The Company
Quite an experienced department that I worked in, but a good laugh.
The department has graduates in doing 3 month placements relatively regularly, so as soon as I got in after the company inductions I hit the ground running.
Didn't receive a huge amount of training, but the experience was invaluable to my professional development.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
An interesting field of work, with the opportunity to work in a department full of experience.
The Culture
Played badminton and football every week, Grad community organised social nights pretty regularly so always stuff to be doing.
Living was cheap, so was grocery shopping and going for drinks.
It's all about who you're out with, play was a bit of a dive but the grad crowd were spot on.
Loads, plenty of activities on your doorstep, Lake District was only 20 minutes away.
