The Role
The learning experience from when I started, during and at the end of my placement was huge. I never expected to recieve the responsibility I did, which allowed me to mature as a person, grow confidence and really get into the role of the job. I soon realised I wasn't really an intern I was actually responsible for a job role and was a crucial part of the team. This bought with it pressure but also made working relationships very strong allowing for tight friendships to be made and overall a very fun working environment!
During the first half if my placement I was between two teams and therefore building relationships was a lot harder. However I am extremely lucky that the second half of my placement I was in a team where we were all incredibly close and great friends. Not only does this bring out the best in your work but it made me feel valued. It was a complete opposite situation to the start and I've learned from it the importance of working alongside a team who gets on as it is highly motivational and a total different experience that made my placement!
There were very few catch ups, I believe I only had one during my whole year. This left me a little in limbo at times as I felt I was putting in so much effort to the job but getting little back in terms of personal guidance.
I was very busy most days which was hard at the start when I was between two teams as I didn't feel as valued. However in the second half of my placement, it was just as busy, but it's just the nature if working on the department I did, which was one of the biggest in terms of sales but I enjoyed every second if it due to my team and loving the product. therefore working extra hours at times was difercult but I learned a vast amount from it.
I believe I was totaly responsible over all elements of my role as BAA
Definitely skills for life!
The Company
Best company atmosphere, young fun and like minded people!!
Didn't have many catch ups for the interns, the person looking over us changed three time do it felt a little badly organised.
There were training course to go on.
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
They are very appealing to me. I am still in touch and would love the opportunity to go back.
The Culture
Yes I made some frat friends but it happens more naturally towards the end if the placement with the interns that were doing similar roles as we could all connect. However this could have been made better if meeting points were set up at the start.
London is very expensive but Asos put in great social so I couldn't complain.
