    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my role at The VWG UK. It constantly challenged me which really helped me to grow throughout my year.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt extremely valued by the whole team, each person always had time to help me or sit down and go through something with me in order to expand my knowledge. My opinion and thoughts always felt valued also which made me felt like I was really contributing to the team

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • With a very busy workload it was sometimes tricky to balance and juggle so many things however my line manager and other team members were always on hand to help. I never felt afraid to ask which was really reassuring.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I like to be busy however I think some may have found this role a bit overwhelming. We had a large project on which was a huge task for each team member however at the start of my placement when it was business as usual it was very manageable. Some days were long and tiring but I loved every minute, without challenge you can never grow and learn

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement year, sometimes more because I proved I was responsible enough to deal with certain issues. This was sometimes nerve wracking but it was great to know that people trusted you enough to leave it in your hands.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • So many of the skills and experiences from my year at The VWG will stay with me for a long time. My new skills will be developed further and I can use my new experiences in different situations in the future. The people I met, the management and the culture of the business will help give me context to my studies back at University and have provided me with great life experiences

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was an open and friendly atmosphere, everyone is treated equally and with respect. It's an open culture so no one has offices which really helps communication and learning I found. You are free to ask anyone questions or approach people if you need advice.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There wasn't much structure to my placement as such, it was more as if I was a full time permanent member of the team which I preferred. I liked not being 'the student'.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We could go on as many courses as we wished to, all the placement students went on PowerPoint and excel training which was great. There were other shorter courses that we could choose to go on if we wished to. I know that this year they have more of a structured training plan in place for students which will be good.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Car

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There is a graduate scheme that you can apply for or you can go on the website when the time suits to look for a position. It's unfortunate that they don't offer roles however the business is changing at such a rate that it would be silly to offer a job that might not be required 12 months down the line.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Really good group of undergraduates, we often did activities together and social events. The undergraduates all meet for lunch each day in the restaurant which was good, if you were free you could join, there was ways a few up there.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • You can get by just fine however you just have to be a bit careful.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife in MK is okay, as we were a big group we often went out together making it fun. So long as there is a good group of you, you can have fun wherever.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Few things to get involved in outside of work, they have a football and netball team and I got involved with some volunteering over the winter through work.

    4/5
