    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoyed working in the Bristol HR office. The work was challenging yet learnt a lot from it.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Felt valued from day 1, everybody is very appreciative of the work done by others.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Had 2 meetings over the summer with my line manager, however they were always there and available if I needed to talk to them. MD also gave guidance when it came to networking.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Started off slow, but once I got into the job and how everything works I had a decent amount of challenging work I could do.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I had responsibility when it came to writing letters and making notes for important meetings, however this was a lot of the time checked to make sure the right advice was going out to clients.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I learnt at the HR Dept will help massively in the future, from communicating within the team to networking with 30 business directors.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Decent atmosphere in the office, when work needed to be done people knuckled down, but also chatted throughout day.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think the more I put into the job the more I got out of it. There wasn't so much a structure, however I was always given opportunities to go learn new things and experience new things such as disciplinary meetings and representing the MD on occasion at a networking event. If you go there at 9, and leave at half 5 without putting yourself forwards for more opportunities, you will not learn as much.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Invested heavily in training me, by letting me attend BNI networking events and attending Whistleblowing workshops. If I ever had a question on a certain law or ACAS code I was always taught the correct form of action.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have a part time job with them now, however career wise there wouldn't be space for me.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 1 other placement guy there, good spirit between us. Always helped each other out when we needed it, still meet up with him now.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Bristol can be cheap if you know where to go.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Bristol has great nights out, simple.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 2/5
