    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a good opportunity for me. I was given real work from the start; gaining valuable hands-on experience and feeling that this was beneficial not only for my CV, but personally as well.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Colleagues treated me like a professional and the positive atmosphere energized me.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • During the internship the guidance and support given to us was just phenomenal. Whilst I was given tasks to do and allowed to get on with them, everyone passing by would stop to talk and make sure I was coping well. Most of the time I was working alongside a senior member of the firm. I felt comfortable enough to ask if I needed any help or was unsure.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe that the skills I have developed and the training I received will be of great use. Managing and prioritizing tasks/projects is a highly useful skill that can be demonstrated in any industry or place of work.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Dynamic, active, busy- completely contrary to what I expected a council to be like- the team I worked within was quite young and totally engaged with their new role.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very pleasant - people were very friendly and open. I always felt I could talk to people and ask questions, even if they were not on my department

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Whenever there was the opportunity for some training, I was always asked if I would like to go, and I did indeed go to them, and it was very worthwhile!

    Sports and Social Club

  • The accommodation was cheap but socializing was just expensive in some places.

    4/5

  • Really good nightlife in the area although it was quite expensive to go out. There were special nights aimed directly at workers.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • If you wanted to activities outside of work then you could. There are sports teams and community/charity projects which are all readily available.
