The Role
I was given a variety of different tasks offering exposure to a wide variety of areas within my placement. I was able to contribute thoughts as to areas I would like to learn more about and those I was perhaps not as interested in.
I genuinly feel my immediate team have valued my contribution. I have been involved in key projects rather than having projects simply created to keep me busy.
My management during my time with Rothschild has been undeniably fantastic. No problem was too large or too small. Help and guidance has been given when required and an active and positive interest has been taken in what I hoped to achieve during my placement.
I had a mixture of my own work and responisbilties and shadowing people from other grads to managers.
Additional tasks have been added to meet business requirements. I have been very busy through out my placement, however, I feel I have taken additional opportunities avalaible - making me very busy on some occasions.
I have gained a vast variety of skills during my placement. I am thankful I chose the right company to do my placement.
The Company
Not much commotion (some like it that way) but you could always have a coffee break with someone to chat.
We had regular correspondence from the scheme leader letting us know where we were up to and what needed to be done. The induction on the first day with all the other placements was really helpful as well as a couple of other days spent with all the other interns - one careers day detailing the different graduate opportunities and one day where we presented what we had done to each other.
The company arranged 4 different training sessions which included manual handling, time management, communication and presentation skills
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
There are a variety of different grad schemes which they encourage you to apply for and I think you may get some exemptions from some of the recruitment stages although I have just finished first year so I'm not thinking about applying for anything just yet!
The Culture
There was only a few of us on placement and they went home most weekends but during the week we would go to the pub for a social drink
It is a cheap city, I just commute in so not sure about living costs.
plenty of pubs with good prices and nice food
There was quite an age gap between the students and those that worked full time so unless it was a student activity or student organised we didn't really socalize outside of work
