    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The whole year was really fun and the team were the loveliest people I know!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I can honestly say that they never treated me like and undergraduate. I was part of the team from day one and made some very good connections and friendships.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • They helped on top of their role by looking over my cv and organising monthly one to ones where we talked though my objectives and how to reach them.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I made a lot of my own work as the role is busy periodically at monthly and quarterly ends. There were daily tasks but in between months was generally quieter so I would recommend networking and seeing if you can help other team members.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given very bespoke reports to do for head office and trusted completely. Everything I did had a purpose and had to be correct so there was a lot of pressure but I really enjoyed the responsibility.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt to organise my time and be responsible which will help with my hectic final year ahead

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was a work hard, play hard environment where as long as the work was done to a high standard, they could be relaxed about social chat.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was still very new so there were a few hiccups but we had opportunities to air these with HR. Also, it is very much managed by VWG UK still so the differences in the companies made it more difficult for FS undergrads but these improved as it went on

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were no training opportunities due to the company's system of offering it post probation (6 months) and it taking up to a year to approve and book. we did have some good driving training though and team away days as well as the usual induction training.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Car

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The Undergraduate scheme is very new to VWFS so it was good to show potential without fear of comparison to previous students. I have had a verbal offer for a full time position and I will also be applying for the Graduate Scheme.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • It was almost like freshers all over again! we met for lunch and spent weekends together as we were all in the same boat of being put with strangers in a foreign environment. Colleagues in FS often had drinks and various parties always offered a free bar!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Milton Keynes was a lot more expensive than some areas but the distance to London etc was worth it and it is a great town. Petrol goes so quickly on the road network though!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nothing compared to Bournemouth! but lots of bars and restaurants and there are a lot of activities such as the ski slope.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There is a lot to do in Milton Keynes but getting around is difficult without a car or bike.

    3/5
