    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

    • The vacation scheme was a lot of fun. I got on really well with the people that were on the scheme and there were a lot of fun events.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?

    • Obviously, there is only so much you can do but the lawyers were keen to get us involved, especially if you would go out to seek work.

    • There were some really informative talks and the supervisors were also really helpful.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • I don't think the work will be incredibly helpful for school but it is a definite leg up in the jobs market however short that may be.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?

    • There was a schedule presented to us on the first day and we stuck to that throughout. We sat with our supervisors and had scheduled events nearly everyday.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • The firm continued to emphasise that we were valued potential joiners so there was a real emphasis on teaching us.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?

    • The firm let us sit in with the real lawyers but doing a vacation scheme never gives the full picture of the work obviously. On the other hand, speaking with the lawyers gave us a chance to ask as many questions as we wanted and to receive candid answers.

    • The firm's culture was evidenced throughout the many events that were held for us.

    • I would never have considered accepting an offer without the scheme.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

    • We were paid a gross amount (so that we would receive 900 pounds even after tax) so it was even more than advertised.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?

    • We were constantly surrounded by lawyers that took it upon themselves to teach us more about the firm and about what their work is like.

    • We were told about the different societies and pro bono activities and could get involved if we wanted to even during the scheme.
