The Role
The projects I were given were very interesting and I enjoyed having the freedom to make my own decisions about how to tackle my project.
I felt like the work I was doing would be of some value to the team once I had left. I was entrusted to decide myself what to do on a day to day basis, so I felt like my colleagues valued my judgement.
My supervisors where always there if I had any questions about what I was doing and checked up on me from time to time to make sure that I was on the right track.
I always had something to do, though it did often involve watching my computer run programs (I'm not sure anything could have been done about this though!)
I was set a project and given a lot of freedom in how I completed it and what I did on a day to day basis.
I think the programming experience I gained will be very useful in my later studies, as will the physics knowledge I gained.
The Company
The general atmosphere was quite relaxed
The internship was pretty well organised and i always had something to do
They made sure that what I was doing would be beneficial for me in terms of developing my knowledge and skills and would be something that I found interesting
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
I got the impression that they would be glad to have me back next year and would be keen to enrol me in the graduate scheme if I wished.
The Culture
I didn't really get involved with this
I stayed with a relative, so I'm not really sure
I didn't really investigate this but got the impression it was pretty poor
There was a new starters group that did activities outside of work but I did not get involved
