The Role
It was completely different to what I expected, however I had a very good year there that I won't forget in a hurry and am looking to carry on with the company on their graduate scheme.
I met some great people there and made some friends for life, but in a depot with hundreds of people you can't be liked by everyone
There was a good understanding that I was a placement student who was there to learn and get the most out of my year there. (Not just there to do menial jobs)
Most weeks I had a good balance of work but I did feel some jobs were quite repetitive and they were the jobs I would find myself doing the most.
After establishing yourself the level of responsibility increases dramatically.. In a good way!
I will definitely be taking everything I have learnt back to uni with me and to any future jobs I have
The Company
Everyone wants to get the job done and keep productivity high but there is definitely plenty of time for having a laugh,
I think there is room for improvement but the team they have in place there are working on it and seem keen to take on feedback from people like me to enhance it for future intakes.
When I started I received plenty of training, however as time went on people presumed I knew how to do everything because I had been there a while.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
When my year ended they asked me to extend until I went back to uni, then at the end I was also offered a job on the graduate scheme.
The Culture
There is a really good induction event at the start. Unfortunately that is it for meeting other placement student at different sites. Luckily had some social graduates in my depot and some decent colleagues to go out with occasionally.
I lived at home but Crewe isn't an expensive area to live or go out in.
It depends how far out of Crewe you are willing to go.
Like I say I lived at home so there was plenty for me to do.
