    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The work was very fun, I learnt a lot throughout the entire internship and was very glad I applied. There were some points of the work that were a bit of a grind, but that's going to be true of any job so I don't think it's a negative reflection on the company.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Definitely an amazing group to work with, always there to help when I asked, and very supportive of what I did.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Absolutely. The first few days they were always on hand, but left me to myself when they saw I could work independently, though you could tell that if I did need more help they would have given it.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Seeing as it was only an internship I was given tasks and told to do them in my own time, it was only coming to the last few days of the internship that time mattered, and even then not so much. As I could decide how fast I worked, there was no chance of being bored or too busy

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was certainly responsible for whatever tasks I was given, and was soon given tasks that wouldn't normally be given to an intern once my supervisors saw I could take it, it felt good to be working on stuff that would actually be used in the company, rather than 'intern work'.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills of learning new programming languages quickly is an amazing skill, along with how to properly lay out code. Half my work was working with web based code, which I don't plan to do further in life, but that doesn't particularly matter when it comes to learning good coding practise.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I was working in an office on a computer, so it's difficult to say it was full of excitement, but it definitely wasn't silent working away, there was conversation, cake on birthdays, occasional trays of food, etc.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The company has obviously taken in a lot of interns before and knows how to handle them, even when they're coming in all at different times.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I'm very surprised at the amount of time they put in teaching me to code to the companies standards in an insane range of new languages.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The impression I got if I left was if I called them up in the future, they would sort out another internship or a job for me.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was an email group used throughout the day for just the placement students, and climbing days/pub lunches/nights out organised.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of accommodation was fabulous, And food in the area was very reasonable.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Other than pubs, the place I worked pretty much closed down around 8pm, but it wasn't hard to hop on a train to be in the centre of London for nightlife, with buses going back home at any point in the night.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a good few emails about charity opportunities, sports days, trips go-karting etc, so there was plenty to do outside of work.

    4/5
