The Role
An enjoyable 4 week placement, everyone was welcoming and friendly. Gained a lot of practical experience I wouldn't otherwise of gained and found what I was doing interesting.
They seemed to appreciate my input, allowed me to help out where I could and was being given greater responsibility throughout.
My supervisor was often out of the office however they made sure I knew I could contact them if I had any problems. They always made time to sit down and catch up if I needed to and having two appraisals throughout allowed me to understand how well I was doing.
I got busier as the weeks went by but at times I had to search for work from other colleagues, the only main problem was only being given one thing to do at a time.
At times I was trusted with responsibility such as spending the day with important clients, doing an office viewing on my own and speaking to agents from other firms for information. I felt what I was doing was important to CW.
With the property industry, practical experience is invaluable. I gained knowledge of a new market and was made aware of business processes that are gone through. By doing this I also made contacts and gained confidence that property is the right industry for me.
The Company
Unfortunately due to interning during August, inevitably some colleagues were away on holiday making the Office seem emptier at times. This said everyone was friendly and lively when they were in!
Everything went smoothly and I had no problems with any of the organisation.
We had a useful L+D session which has helped the way I approach work. However the main investment was delegating tasks for me to undertake meaning I developed working skills and undertsood more about the firm, time was invested in developing me as a person
The strength of the internship was that the fact that working well could lead to a job offer was made clear to us.
The Culture
We went out for lunch once which was really nice, but due to holiday time many social events are pushed into the future so I perhaps didn't get a fair representation.
Commuting to the office made it a fairly expensive experience and also infringed on being able to have the time to do things after work. However I would not say this is in any way the fault of the firm.
A very good night could be had if funds and a place to stay are available!!
Again I believe being there for a short amount of time and being in August time infringed on these opportunites.
