    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Everybody that I met were welcoming and friendly; I learnt a lot during the experience; I was given a lot of responsibility and the work load was very reasonable.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was invited out to social events by my team and other teams.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager and supervisor were both very approachable so I was able to ask for help if I needed it.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As expected, some days were busier than others, but it was up to me to be proactive to ask for tasks and add value.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given lots of tasks to help me learn and was given total responsibility for those tasks. However, at the beginning, I had support from my supervisor to double check whether my work was correct. As the internship progressed, they trusted me to be more independent.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The experience was great for real life applied work, so it was not very related to my degree. However, I have gained "skills for life".

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • This varied depending on how busy the teams were. Generally, there was a lot of banter within the team I sat with and with the interns.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything ran smoothly. All events and activities were well organised.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • This was up to us to organise. There were not many social events.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Expensive since it's London, but not shocking.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are a lot of bars and restaurants in Canary Wharf which are always buzzing. Apart from that, there is not much else.

  • There was a corporate social responsibility day, diversity events, sports clubs and charity events.
