    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed it and it far exceeded my expectations in terms of actually wanting to go to work!

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was so well looked after, the MD and VP would have 1:1 meetings even at the busiest times, to see how I was coping. It was the best work environment I have ever been a part of. If I had suggestions I was listened too and options discussed.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was not only offered support and guidrance I was allowed to be innovative. Not once was a negative remark made against or about me.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I felt pushed to a good limit, if we had been any busier I could not have sustained the same performance. Also the variety of work meant that busy didnt play a part, you just had to be on the ball and remember each duty.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the right amount of responsibility as any more would have had a negative effect of stress but any work I did, I had help if needed and was corresponding directly with other banks.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I dont believe that the majority of my skills will become apparent until I leave here and absorb another work context. However I feel I have grown as a professional, am far more disciplined and focussed.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very focussed and laid back, nobody was running around stressed but it was not very social either. Nobody spoke in the lifts. It was a good atmosphere to be productive in essentially.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well set up with weekly update emails, meetings with all levels of profession, social events, networking events, speaker events. I can only credit the work of my manager in terms of work organisation but it was incredible what I am leaving having learnt.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot. I feel like royalty here whereas most interns have to earn the respect of a senior employee. This proved good for the development of my professional manner.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • For someone wanting to do a career in investment banking - absolutely wonderful.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes if you were in the right crowd. London is a wonderful place to experience so much for so little money.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Expensive but I made my own food and saved a lot. You can live off nothing if you really want to save.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Not canary wharf but London's elcectic taste of nightlife can offer anyone a good night out.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I only discovered the womens football team which was brilliant but in just a few weeks its hard to maintain an activity or a group.

    2/5
