    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The job was very suited to my expertise and area of knowledge. My manager and team appreciated that level of knowledge when explaining things to me.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I began to feel more valued as I found niggles and problems that a fresh pair of eyes does on a daily used system.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My managers and supervisors were great at educating me and also providing emotional and relevant support and advice whether for work or personal circumstances.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Depended who was free at what times of day as my main project centred around working with another colleague.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a great deal of responsibility despite the length of time I would be there for. My manager and supervisors worked with me to make sure I had all the permissions I needed so I could do jobs rather than them just doing everything.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The job skills themselves may not help specifically with my degree but the soft skills I improved during my time here will help massively with my project and presentation work for my final year. The technical knowledge is still very worthwhile for moving into industry at a later date.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Atmosphere was friendly and fun, but also focused when needed.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised, lots of events to introduce us to managers and learn more about the company and business it's involved in.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Set objectives for my time there, manager made sure these were relevant to what I wanted to achieve and made sure I was on track to achieve them. Lots of training made available through work training portal, subset of courses outlined that would be of interest to us.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    Healthcare from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing, well structured graduate program and opportunity to stay in the same team, specify areas of interest and rotate. Interns get elevated priority if they performed well.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • It did get cliquey as some people had to work late or worked in different 'streams' (Operations, Tech etc) but people were still very willing to meet up after work or on weekends if they could. Lunch meetups were also common.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of living/socialising was high but the salary on offer for the internship more than covered this and still allowed for spending and saving.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife near workplace is more pubs, but it's very easy to get to the clubs in the city centre.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Company made sure we were included and informed about local and global events that colleagues could get involved in.

    5/5
