The Role
Really nice people and office, very interesting and insightful work.
Everyone was so friendly, and all welcomed questions and background information on work.
I was assigned an actuarial student who looked after me for the entirety of the placement, they were constantly helping me through my tasks.
My workload depended on what was available; I was usually comfortably busy, however there were one or two days where there was nothing to do.
I was given many different types of tasks, and felt that they were important, however, understandably, it wasn't work that had to be rushed through the office.
The actuarial and professional skills I gained will be very useful for the future, for office environment and my career. However, it will not alter my Maths degree.
The Company
Very friendly and chatty, but work was still taken seriously.
The induction was well organised, however there is no formal training, it was more learning on the job.
You got out as much as you gave, and my team were very supportive, however the training was not extensive. I don't feel that this impacted on my performance, it was representative of a graduate position.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
They were very positive about my performance, however I will not hear back for a few weeks. If they offered me a job, I would take it!
The Culture
Everyone was very sociable, and there were a few independent and company organised events. Punter Southall has a Summer Event that interns can go to that is very fun.
The South East is very expensive to live in, however it was not in London.
Wokingham is extremely small, however it is close to better nightlife areas.
There were quite a few events, and everyone was welcome to organise things.
