The Role
The placement was arranged for me, so it wasn't a role that I would have chosen for myself
I was given a fairly important project that involved changing the working practices of my team. I definitely felt accepted by other people in the office.
Any questions I had someone would be happy to answer
Not too busy, which gave me time to arrange shadowing in other areas of the bank.
Not very much, although this is to be expected as a summer intern
The most importnat skill is probably the discipline of having to get up and commute into work every day. also learning to budget whilst being in London is important
The Company
Relaxed and quiet
Good. We had talks by senior people in the commercial bank and webinars ocasionally to give information on the different streams of work at LBG.
We had lots of learning opportunities with webinars and talks.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
The nature of the work isn't something that I would like to build a career around.
The Culture
Definitely, always something going on on the weekend or mnaybe a Thursday.
Very expensive compared with the rest of the UK.
Lots of clubs and places to go in London.
My team had a day to make a difference during my placement, which was great. As well, there was an intern charity challenge. For this my team raised £200 by hosting a pub quiz at a local bar.
