  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I struggled at first coming new into the organisation and having to learn about M&S as well as the various roles in store. I also struggled to grow as a manager but this became better as my confidence grew and by the half way point I was thoroughly enjoying the placement

  • extremely valued by colleagues. Involved in management meetings from day one. Involved in all decisions for the department I was working in.

  • the support and guidance was good and the programme was extremely structured to ensure this.

  • days varied as the year progressed depending on the operations of the store at any given time.

  • Was given department accountabilities and also duty manager trained

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Skills for life in decision making, communication, commercial acumen and leadership. AAlso developed the M&S business competencies which are transferable.

  • The atmosphere was generally good

  • placement was extremely organised and structured with a wide variety of attachments

  • The firm invested heavily in us as the end result could mean the chance of a managerial job upon graduation. Attended a variety of courses from people management to cost management. 10+ courses in total

  • I have been signed off and am eligible for a graduate position. Market not in great place so not 100% guaranteed

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Three of us in total on the placement programme. Also three graduates in another store. Very close bonds and lots of socialising
