    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • A completely new and different experience, really enjoyed working in teams and working with deadlines and being in charge of my own time.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone was very welcoming, and often asked me questions about myself to get me involved in the conversation.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Management and supervisors were very supportive at times, however sometimes i felt work wasn't always explained fully or work was given by my buddy in a very rushed manner and was more focused on the deadline than ensuring I understood what I was doing

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very slow to start off - often had one or two pieces of work at a time, and then the majority of the week would be very unproductive. However after the 3rd or 4th week the work load picked up a lot, and I had a constant flow of work

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was left to be in charge of my own time and work, and felt quite independent

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • They will help very much with time management, and some of the maths i picked up will be applicable to some of studies next year

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • In terms of our charity projects they were very well organised, but at the same time we were left to our own devices. Also work within the office was quite varied and we were encouraged to attend all talks and trainings.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Due to off shoring there were times where we had literally nothing to do. This could be improved on by perhaps offering more training or studying sessions on what the work we were meant to be doing or would be doing meant- i.e slightly more technical knowledge would be appreciated rather than leaving us with nothing to do when work was low

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    Healthcare/Dental

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It is usually not too bad, however recently we were informed only 3 grads would be hired in 2014 compared to the 5 interns hired for summer - so it is obviously getting harder to convert

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very much enjoyed the social aspect of the office - regular games of 5-a-side football, squash, cricket, a long with Fridays to socialize after work at the local pub

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Food and drinks was generally wuite cheap with a lot of large supermarkets and cheap pub lunches available.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Not a lot of clubs, but easy to travel to central and also there was a large selection of busy pubs to keep us entertained

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As stated earlier - 5-a-side football twice a week, cricket match, squash once a week, rounders

    5/5
