    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Extremely enjoyed my time, great insight into Audit and met some great people.

  • Everyone from graduates to partners were extremely friendly and welcoming, made me feel like the work I was doing was valued and useful.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Extremely good support system; you get a buddy who is someone who joined the firm recently to ask questions before you start and help you out during the internship, you then get a counselling manager who you meet with every couple of weeks and can go to with any problems. You also get regular contact with Managers and HR.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I always had work to do and if I didn't if you ask your colleagues you can normally find something to do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • When out on an audit I felt like I was given more responsibility that I thought I would be which was excellent.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel like I learnt so much on this internship and developed so many skills that will help me with the final year of my degree and in my future career.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Loved the office atmosphere, it felt friendly and relaxed and everyone was very welcoming.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Extremely well organised! Particularly the initial training week which was both useful and fun, the HR people are great. In the office you are booked to jobs so always know what you are going to be doing.

  • I felt like I was really valued and they really wanted to help me learn and grow.

  • This internship has made me certain that a future career with BDO is what I would like to aim for.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very good, always got invited to nights out within the office. Also a very good and organised social scene in the induction week.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very reasonable as it's a popular student area for nightlife.

  • Lots of different places to go out to make it as cheap/expensive as you wanted.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Lots of opportunities we were made aware of throughout the year but didn't have a chance to get involved in many as we were only there for a short period of time.
