    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I spent the first six months doing a project that didn't interest me and wasn't relevant to what I had been doing at university

    2/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Some members of my team were friendly and were very easy to get along with, other team members never said a word to me.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Was given a good amount of support on projects, but there were times when I asked for help and very little was given.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • At the start and end of my year I was quite bored due to either lacking the knowledge to do the work or lack of work

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • At times I felt I had too much responsibility as I was the only person working on the project, therefore there was a lot of pressure on me to make sure everything was handed over correctly

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Although I didn't have the skills when I first started to be able to work on my first project, I was given sufficient training to be able to complete the project. These skills should come in handy for my final year.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The team I was working with had a very high average age and weren't particularly keen to talk during the day.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was very well setup although at times there was a lot of paperwork

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They invested quite well in me but they had no choice. They had me doing a project that I had no prior knowledge or skill for

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Above 25 days holiday

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • With Defense cuts, salary cuts and a reduction in headcount looming things don't look too good.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a very good social scene especially at the start of the year.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Portsmouth is quite expensive to what I've been use to at university, rent is quite expensive and some of the night clubs are very expensive. For instance tiger tiger is £10 just for entry

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Depends on what you like there is a variety of pubs and nigtclubs

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are quite a few clubs that you can join, there were also a few events that we setup ourselves

    4/5
