The Role
I spent the first six months doing a project that didn't interest me and wasn't relevant to what I had been doing at university
Some members of my team were friendly and were very easy to get along with, other team members never said a word to me.
Was given a good amount of support on projects, but there were times when I asked for help and very little was given.
At the start and end of my year I was quite bored due to either lacking the knowledge to do the work or lack of work
At times I felt I had too much responsibility as I was the only person working on the project, therefore there was a lot of pressure on me to make sure everything was handed over correctly
Although I didn't have the skills when I first started to be able to work on my first project, I was given sufficient training to be able to complete the project. These skills should come in handy for my final year.
The Company
The team I was working with had a very high average age and weren't particularly keen to talk during the day.
It was very well setup although at times there was a lot of paperwork
They invested quite well in me but they had no choice. They had me doing a project that I had no prior knowledge or skill for
Flexi Time
Above 25 days holiday
With Defense cuts, salary cuts and a reduction in headcount looming things don't look too good.
The Culture
There was a very good social scene especially at the start of the year.
Portsmouth is quite expensive to what I've been use to at university, rent is quite expensive and some of the night clubs are very expensive. For instance tiger tiger is £10 just for entry
Depends on what you like there is a variety of pubs and nigtclubs
There are quite a few clubs that you can join, there were also a few events that we setup ourselves
