    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • This was a fantastic experience. It had upsides and downsides but overall I have gained some invaluable work experience and feel very positive about the way the company has treated me.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All my colleagues were very supportive and interested in what I was getting up to with my project. Everyone is more than willing to give you 15 minutes of their time to tell you about what they do or to explain something you don't understand.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Unfortunately, my supervisor has an extremely busy schedule so I didn't see too much of him. However, he always made an effort to fit in time with me in where he could.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My workload fluctuated just like any other job. Some days I was very busy and some days I had relatively little to do. My stream head was very good at finding me alternate work during these slow periods.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I had full creative control of my project and was responsible to determining how I went about completing it and what I had produce by the end of it.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was able to gained real world experience of how many of the skills I have developed during my course are used within the industry.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My team had a lot of fun during the workday. There was lots of banter being thrown around and we went on a few team social events. However, the fun did get put on hold when deadlines were approaching and focus needed to be increased.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • This was probably the poorest element of the placement. Everything up to my first day of work was extremely well organised, e.g. Recruitment, Correspondence, Welcome Days, ect... However, my project lacked structure and I was responsible for deciding how to take it forward.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The interns were invited to many "Lunchtime Learning Sessions" and the company paid for me to go on a full day presentation skills development course.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Healthcare from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would definitely consider joining their graduate scheme if I was offered the chance. As far as I'm aware everyone who has performed well in their internship is offered that opportunity at the end of their placement.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The interns all bonded very well. It took one or two people to take the time to organise the first few events but once we all got to know each other and became friends we would socialise on a regular basis.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The company pays for your accommodation and everyone was within walking distance of the office so the only expenditures should be food, utilities and travel home (if desired). Nightouts out can be a bit expensive but no more than any other major city.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Very good. There is plenty to do but it can be a bit expensive. The festival is on during the internship which is an amazing experience.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The company does have sports/socail clubs but they dont adverise them very well so you have to take the time to find out about them.

    4/5
