The Role
Extremely well organised internship! As well as having a lot of interesting work to keep me busy, there were loads of other activities organised such as a careers day and small group chats about different areas. All of which were very helpful and enjoyable!
Everyone was very welcoming, friendly and approachable. There has been numerous socials, such as team lunches and drinks after work.
I was assigned a manager and a buddy and was placed in the Risk team. Everything was explained to me clearly and everyone was willing to help if I didn't understand anything fully.
Quite busy. There hasn't really been any moments where I didn't have anything to get on with but at the same time I didn't have more work than I can handle. Very good balance.
I was given a surprising high amount of responsibility. I was able to take part in video conferences, meetings and a lot of other things.
I have gained so much experience and such a huge insight into Insurance companies and Actuary in particular and all of this will help me greatly when it comes to applying for graduate roles. It was also a good opportunity to see how the Statistics and other subjects I am learning as part of my degree applies to the real world.
The Company
Great atmosphere! Far from Dull. Everyone would bring in treats to the office for birthdays or if they came back from a holiday they'd bring food back. We've also had bake sales. And everyone talks to each other, and jokes around but are still very professional.
Amazing! Compared to what I've heard about other internships from friends, my internship seemed the most organised. They've arranged so many things for us outside of usual work including a careers day at a beautiful venue with an amazing BBQ lunch, to small chats from other team members so we can understand the other areas of Actuary, presentation evenings and also an induction day.
Clearly a lot has gone into organising this internship. They seem to take it very seriously and have invested a lot.

Still haven't found out if I'm going to get the graduate role with them, but I have my fingers (and toes) crossed!
The Culture
There were so many opportunities to socialise. More than I imagined. I've only been here 2 months and have been to quite a few team lunches, spent lots of evenings after work at the pub, and I have also been invited to the office summer boat party!
Considering my internship is in London, I barely spent anything. I didn't spend too much on team lunches and spent absolutely nothing on drinks at the pub because someone was always celebrating something so drinks were on them.
The pubs/bars are amazing, some of the best I've been to. I haven't been to any clubs though.
Allianz volunteer at a local school, for example, and I had the opportunity to go along and volunteer as well which was a fantastic opportunity. They also have a lot of charity and sports events that staff can get involved with.
