The Role
It was a very enjoyable experience, the work I was doing was interesting and had a clear objective.
In the second team that I was working in they were always willing to help and clearly felt the work I was doing was of reasonable importance.
I had optional review sessions twice a week, and would speak to my line manager at least once a week with a progress update.
At some points in the first placement there wasn't enough work for me to be getting on with, in the second team although I would sometimes come in with the anticipation of there being little to do, but something would always present itself, either from management or from the project I was working on.
I wasn't exactly given responsibility, I was simply given autonomy to carry out my project in the way I thought best.
Some of the training on computer programmes may or may not be useful in future, but the excel training and experience I got with that is invaluable.
The Company
People were generally chatty, but also got on with work.
The only issues I had were with getting access to certain computer programmes I needed to use, and the first placement underestimated how much work I would need for a week.
Management spent a lot of time training me on certain things and were always happy to spend their time answering questions and giving advice and guidance.
Company Parties/Events
They have a wash up at the end of the internship to decide if they want to take anyone onto their graduate schemes.
The Culture
Other interns were very sociable and often doing activities.
It's quite an expensive area, but the free mini-bus into town made getting around a bit easier.
