The Role
The job was great fun. The combination of interesting work with plenty of opportunities and great people made the year really worthwhile.
Everyone was always really welcoming and happy to assist and answer questions with any work I was set.
My manager was always on hand to organise training, deal with any developing issues and make sure I was enjoying my time there.
There was always work to be done and opportunities to earn overtime if wanted.
As the year progressed and a people got a better view of my capabilities, I was given more responsibility and was often left alone to complete the tasks set.
Training was fantastic and I have no doubt the IT skills I have gained will assist me for the next few years at least.
The Company
The people made for a great atmosphere and needed no encouragement to celebrate birthdays and the like.
I was treated as any other employee of the company with regards to training with lots of opportunities available which I was more than happy to take on.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
I would happily return to work with DSTL and would recommend them as an employer to anyone interested.
The Culture
There are lots of graduates and interns working together so the social scene was always busy.
Portsmouth is not lacking in nightlife and has more than enough clubs and bars to suit everyone's desires.
The civil service club provides lots of opportunities with sports teams, days out, exercise classes etc.
