The Role
Excellent diverse role, not a straight accounting and finance role. My best interests taken into consideration and a variety of tasks completed as I asked different aspects to experience
Everyone was really friendly, especially my line manager, the Finance Director and the one other person in finance.
Always asked if I was getting on ok and if there was something I'd like to get experience in
Kept busy by various tasks, if I'd finished something I'd ask for more, the more experience you can get over a variety of tasks, the better
Dealt with existing customers direct, renewing and negotiating prices for airtime on sim cards
Variety of skills, in a small team so get alot of feedback of what I'm doing right and wrong. General business knowledge gained is brilliant for understanding small/medium sized businesses. Did'nt get 'lost' in a team.
The Company
Sales in the same open office so a little banter yet still professional office
This uyear was the first year they offered a placement to students. We detailed a plan of what we both wanted from the placement and as time has passed, this has been adapted and it is now well organised
No external training but given internal training on how equipment and technology works, finance procedures, sales procedures throughn auditing and given good insight into HR by the HR manager
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
Am looking to go back after my final year at university, if you are good, you will be considered if a job is available in the future, can't ask more than that!
The Culture
There was no fellow placement students. I was the first and only placement student for 2009/2010 student year
I lived in Didsbury and commuted to Rochdale, the Rochdale area isn't the nicest but some surrounding areas are nice and can be commuted to from Manchester central or suburbs
Rochdale isn't brilliant but Manchester isn't too far away and that's class!
We placyed footy occasionally and offer social events such as bowling etc
