    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • A thoroughly enjoyable placement. A good insight into the world of work made easier by working with some great colleagues.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • A lot of the design meetings were open to input from anyone and no ideas were rejected. Very positive working environment.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Continuous feedback on my work output and suggested areas I might like to look into for further development.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Often had tasks to perform on some project. Work often came in flurries due to the nature of the stage-gate process of project management.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Very often given a task and left to my own devices to complete it on time and with results. Some tasks were more team orientated or pre-defined tasks to run.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a lot of practical skills and general work-life skills that will certainly help me with my future professional development.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Obviously it was a work environment so there was a lot of time spent doing serious work but everyone there had a good sense of humour and could see the lighter side of any situation!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • From the perspective of 3P the placement was very well organised and I was given dates and sent information well in advance. The University offered little feedback from the bi-monthly reports and didn't get involved much.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • All of my colleagues invested a lot of time developing my skills by talking to me and showing me how to do particular things. The nature of the work did not require a lot of out-sourced training as all of it was bespoke and done on site.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Strong possibility I may return for a summer placement.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I lived with 2 of the placement students so we often did things together.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Reasonable, what you would expect. Prices slightly raised due to the fact it was a tourist area.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • A lot of pubs but not many clubs. Good for a quiet drink with friends though.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The company didn't offer activities outside of work as they were a small organisation. I joined a local gym in my spare time.

    3/5
