    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It is the level of responsibility and personal empowerment that I have been given in this role that made it so worthwhile. I was able to mould and grow the internship without bounds, allowing me to develop as an employee and student. On the social side of things, I met some amazing people and have created some great networks that will continue to flourish after this placement ends.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The people I work with in my team make everyday fun. They have always been happy to help and have made me feel welcome from day one. Even though I don’t work as closely with the other MIS teams, everyone is so friendly that I have managed to develop strong relationships across the department, which has helped build up my confidence. After working with my team and the wider department, I will be genuinely sad to say goodbye.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager has been very supportive and approachable. She always gave me the opportunity to shine and encouraged me to be active member of our team, department and company, putting me forward for a variety of interesting projects. Although I am often given projects that require a lot of individual work, if at any point I needed advise or support my manager was always more than willing to help.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There is never a dull day in my department. As I worked on multiple projects at the same time, I would always have the opportunity to do something different everyday. Making each day interesting and providing a good level of control over my entire schedule.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My placement offered me a great level of responsibility and expanded as I my confidence did. I had complete ownership over a variety of projects and this allowed me to understand the kind of employee I was and where I wanted to be in the future. Through this placement I have learnt to trust myself and my abilities and I believe this has been an invaluable experience.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • During my year at Warner Bros. I was apart of an intern training program where we were taught everything from how to use Outlook to how to present effectively in meetings. I have already put a lot of these newly acquired skills into practice and will continue to develop these skills, as they will be useful during my final year and my future career.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Although we are a quiet department, there is a very good atmosphere. As many of the employees have worked at the company for many years, everyone is very comfortable with each other. Professionally, everyone makes themselves available to help one another, promoting a good working and social relationship.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I found my placement to be very well organised, as I had weekly meetings with my manager to ensure I was always working on something. I also felt that these meeting provided a great opportunity to get to know my manager, making me more confident to ask questions. The company also offered a very good intern training program and helped organise some extra courses for me to take

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt that my manager really helped with my development as she sort out projects for me to work on that had great development potential. My department was very invested in my technical growth allowing me to take an extra IT course and allowing me to follow up with a presentation to my department, reinforcing my knowledge. Personally I have learnt a lot from my team and they have helped shaped me and the future I want.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Healthcare/Dental

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Job prospects are very promising, but nothing has been confirmed. I plan to stay in touch with my manager throughout my final year and even if I can't get a job sorted straight out of university, I will keep trying as Warner Bros is a really great place to work.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, all the interns got along very well. We would socialise every Friday and out of this I made some very good friends - one of which I now live with at the moment. Socially, this year is what you make of it as London offers so much in terms of nightlife.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was very lucky to be staying at family friends, so my rent was very low and the location I live in is close enough to work that I can walk, so I felt living costs were not a problem. However, I don't really think my view is representative. I found the cost of socialising to be very reasonable. But we did plan a lot of the big events before going, which of course helped with budgeting.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There is so much to do in Holborn, and it is so close to Covent Garden and Leicester Square that you really are spoiled for choice. I would also advise looking in Time Out magazine, as this will tell you if any cool stuff happening in London.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I'm sure there were, but I didn't look into it. Again, I would suggest looking online and in Time Out magazine.
