    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Enjoyed the vac scheme a lot. It's very packed with exercises etc, but it's quite fun at the same time.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • My supervisor was very good about giving me feedback about my work immediately, and I was complimented when I did a piece of work that was good. Everyone at the firm were really friendly and helpful and willing to give you work, which made it an interesting experience that was realistic as to what being a trainee is like.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Even the partners are very willing to chat and I found everybody at the firm very approachable and friendly.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt quite a lot about company law and real estate law, which will definitely help me next year for my undergraduate degree.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Many of the recruitment partners were very busy, so there was invariably some rescheduling involved. However, on the whole, the vac scheme was very well structured. It brought a good combination of seat experience, simulated exercises, insight into the different practice areas, and social events.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was great. Since Weil is quite a small firm, everybody gets to know each other very quickly. Everybody is really friendly and willing to have a chat about anything, and I didn't experience any hierarchy or egotistical behaviour at all.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested a lot - a lot of exercises were given to us during the scheme. In addition, even the more senior lawyers were always willing to make time to have a chat with you if you made the effort to meet with them and prepare informed questions to ask.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Was very insightful - unlike some city law firms, Weil don't wine and dine you without giving you a real insight into the life of a trainee. I got many chances to talk to the current trainees who were also about to tell you about what it's like.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • 5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • A lot of opportunities, particularly if you also make the effort to seek them out.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Not as many as at other vac schemes, but good nevertheless.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes - we could chat with the other lawyers.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, was a very good and helpful experience.

    5/5
