About You
Intense and challenging but enjoyable
Varied according to Associates and Partners, but on the whole I felt well-valued
Almost everyone was willing to provide in-depth support on assessment projects and normal work
Through a series of departmental talks I learnt a huge amount about City law
The Company
Very well structured: clear timetable with at least 2 events each day
Most people were friendly but at times it was slightly intimidating.
Supervisors and lawyers across the firm invested many hours in teaching and developing the interns.
We were given offices like regular trainees, but it was difficult to get a full measure of the pressures of working for Weil, particularly regarding the hours.
I don't know how much there can be one 'company culture' within an organisation of so many people, but it certainly showed us a number of prevalent cultures.
Everything Else
Payment was £400 a week
Yes, we were encouraged to pay visits across the departments, but I was conscious about wasting lawyers' time.
One event involved a cocktail mixicology session after our first assessment which I enjoyed.
Had a talk about Pro Bono
Would definitely recommend to a friend for an intense introduction into the realities of City law
