The Role
I was given a high level of responsibility from the very beginning and every day was different. I was able to work in different areas across the store which gave me a fantastic scope of the company, as well as spending time working in different stores around my region.
My colleagues made me feel part of the team from the off and I was always encouraged to give my views on everything occurring in the store
My manager was very approachable and was always there and happy to chat whenever I needed it.
At the start of the placement year, I sometimes felt a bit of a loose part and found myself finding things to do at times, however this was due to my inexperience and the fact that I wasn't completely accountable for a particular area. After the first month or so, I had a constant list of things to focus on and complete which kept me busy on a daily basis.
I was given lots of responsibility from the start and even more so further on in the placement when providing holiday cover for management as I was accountable for the entire area during this time.
Extremely beneficial for future employment as I will take many skills away with me which I have learned and developed throughout the year. I believe the year will give me a great basis for my final year at uni and my dissertation.
The Company
The team I worked with were relaxed but worked extremely hard at the same time. This was great as it made my time enjoyable.
There was good structure behind the placement from induction to training programmes and attachments in other stores
I went on various training courses and there was a lot of focus around personal development on a regular basis
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
It would be great to return after uni as there is still so much I want to do and so many skills I want to develop
The Culture
After courses students working on the region regularly went out for dinner/drinks which was great
Fairly cheap to live in the area and socialising cheap due to being a student area
Good nightlife when I managed to go out
