  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I work on a very specialized topic in which I think I won't work anymore, but the methods and soft skills I've learned will be meaningful.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I worked in a laboratory and in an office, respectively with different people. Sometimes there was a slightly strange mood in the lab, but the atmosphere in the office was always good.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was pretty well organised. Schlumberger organised and paid a B&B for the first two weeks, because I came to England for my placement. They also assisted me in finding a nice shared flat, opening a UK bank account and provided all information needed.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • What ever I needed in the laboratory - I got it. Furthermore, there were really interesting presentations/talks in our side or at university where I was invited to.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • If I'll concentrate on this area I would love to get a job with them again, but I'll think my interests are on a different subject.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We were between 8 and 15 interns (out of about 110 employers) at all times I was with the company. There also were a lot of young permanent employees. With all of them you could eat you lunch, play football or go out for a beer (or more ;) ).

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Pretty expansive, at least compared to Germany, but for sure not too expansive compared to the salary.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • City full of students...

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Mainly college activities.

    4/5
