About You
I really enjoyed the Vacation scheme. The people there are very welcoming and there are opportunities to socialise with the other vacation scheme students, and the lawyers.
I felt very valued. A lot of time and effort was invested in providing us with advice on how to complete tasks and also presentations were providing explaining how different practice areas work and how they all fit together.
We had a supervisor whilst we were sitting in departments and we also had a trainee buddy. Therefore there was always someone to turn to ask for support or guidance.
The skills I learnt will be useful wherever I go. I learnt a lot in two weeks.
The Company
There were practice talks throughout the two weeks, but there was plenty of time to experience the departments.
Atmosphere was fantastic, everyone from the catering staff to the partners were extremely friendly and easy to talk to to.
I think they invested a lot. Lawyers took considerable time out of their day to come and speak with us to explain how their department works and what their job entails.
I have a strong understanding now as we did real work which would be assigned to trainees. Therefore we got a real insight into day to day activities of a trainee. We also had to prepare a Pitch Presentation which gave us an insight into how we would present to clients.
We were able to mix with the lawyers and therefore I got a real understanding of the company culture.
It definitely confirmed my desire to be a Corporate Laywer.
Everything Else
Absolutely because it is a smaller firm you can get to know everyone. The summer party was especially helpful for getting to know people as all the lawyers were there, as well as other staff. Lunch was also a great time to speak to people as many of the lawyers enjoy eating at the canteen.
Summer party was very relaxed and gave us a real opportunity to get to know people.
Cycling, running, cricket, tennis and many more!
Absolutely, you are treated really well here.
