    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the two weeks. It does give you a real insight into how the firm functions. You are able to sit in two different practice areas; I sat in two very different ones, which is recommended, as I was able to have a broader understanding of how all of the practice areas fit in with each other.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I was surprised with the level of responsibility that you are given. Also, I was actively encouraged to contribute to discussions using my own knowledge, even if I was wrong. However, obviously, you are only an intern for two weeks so the level of tasks that you are given is limited.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Everyone I met or talked to was more than happy to help. I was able to sit with partners, associates or trainees and discuss any legal issues. You have a trainee buddy for the two weeks who is available for any questions. In addition to this, the HR team are there with anything you may need.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The approach of the lawyers at Weil begins to teach you how to approach legal problems in general: get straight to the main points and deal with those first. Also, the proper approach of how to treat a client was a valuable lesson to learn.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Good structure with a mixture of talks, projects and work in the department.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • There is a buzz in the office and a it is a good environment in which to work. However, there is an undercurrent of hard work, which is to be expected!

    3/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was a great deal of partner attention and assessments throughout the period.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • 4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Although there is a number of assessments, Weil does give you as much of an insight as is possible within the two weeks.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • 4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • The firm pays £400 a week, which is more than enough.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There was a number of social events, including one with most of the firm in attendance. Also, you were encouraged to speak to anyone within the office.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Drinks on the rooftop of the building with an amazing view overLondon; what could be better?

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • A challenging two weeks in which everyone seeks to give you the greatest insight into the firm. Everyone is welcoming and friendly and will answer any questions you have. If you are willing to work hard and are up for a challenge, Weil is definitely a good call.
