    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was a fantastic experience, which was not only educational but lots of fun.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Despite being a non-law student, my supervisors were able to find real work for me and show how it fitted into the greater scheme of things.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • When more senior supervisors were busy, trainees were onhand every step of the way to give advice.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • While perhaps less useful for a theology degree, the things I have learnt on the scheme will be invaluable for when I start work.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The graduate team were excellent at drawing up a plan and making sure you knew exactly where you had to be every step of the way.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Baker & McKenzie is an extremely social and friendly firm so the atmosphere was very welcoming.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Every day we had a talk explaining more about each department. These talks were useful since they were educational not only on the firm but also on the global economy and how their work fits in etc. This will be invaluable in the future.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I think the scheme prepared me for the kind of work a trainee would do, but perhaps not the volume.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Sitting in two departments over the 3 weeks enabled me to guage the working culture across the firm and not only in one department.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The work was interesting - this scheme has clarified and reinforced for me the extent to which I want to work in commercial law.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • We were paid £270 per week.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Lots of networking events were arranged, as well as social evening events.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Very well organised - lots of fun and we are certainly able to let our hair down. This was an important part of learning about the working culture, particularly as many trainees were at the social events.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes - probono and sports clubs.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • This was three excellent weeks - everyday I looked forward to coming into work. I would absolutely recommend a vac-scheme here.
