    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Extremely valuable experience that has given so many positive insights into life within a law firm, as well as life as a trainee solicitor. Both the work and the social side were amazingly enjoyable, couldn't recommend it anymore.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Everyone makes you feel as if you are part of the office from the outset. Always people looking out to ensure you have settled in and comprehend what is expected of you

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Extensive support network from grad recruitment, to your trainee buddy, to your supervisor. Feedback on any work done was useful and helped to develop understanding of any concepts that were complex.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Despite the fact I am studying a humanities degree, I can see the placement as being beneficial in the long term. Any skills which are acquired prepare you as much as is possible for a potential career path in commercial law. On a more basic level, the placement nutured my communicative skills, as well as my attention to detail.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The amount of time that the firm put into my development was both surprising and beneficial. Whether it be from meetings with the managing committee, lunch with partners, advice from associates and trainees or help from grad recruitment, there was an impression that the scheme was something that was deeply important and integral to them.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Considering all of the work given was assignments etc that would be given to trainees, I felt as if I received a real insight into life at the firm. There was no attempt to sugarcoat anything, which is extremely important if you are going to commit a career within law!

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Really insightful, time spent within a number of departments helped to understand not just the culture in one area but across the firm

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Despite any preconceptions, the majority of the content of the day helped assure me that a law career was right for me

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Payment was perfectly adequate and any previous events at the firm attended before the scheme were reimbursed

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were opportunities to meet trainees at socials, lunchs and around the office as you work closely with them, there were again networking lunchs with associates and partners. Presentations on various mornings were given by partners or associates and offered an extra opportunity to meet even more of the firm. We were even provided with the opportunity to meet the managing committee which was an impressive feat!
