    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The culture at Goldman and the colleagues you work with are the best part, there is a work-hard, play-hard attitude.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • By the end of the year many people that had joined the firm had no idea I was a placement student - you are treated totally as an equal and valued as an individual.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • You will have a regular 1-to-1 meeting with you direct manager and also assigned a mentor (usually a manager from another area of the business). Alongside this there are frequent opportunities in your daily work to meet management.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It isn't a 9-5 job and it's frequently busy but it is very much a team effort so everyone is there for as long as needed and it just becomes a routine getting home a little later.

    1/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Straight away from day 1 you are treated like a full member of the team.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Over the first 2 months (alongside the 10-week summer placement students) there is structured training in place - presentations from all areas of the bank, product knowledge and skill development sessions.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • As mentioned before, it's the people that make this such a great firm to work for.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The training, socials and networkign events, teambuilding days and community work over the summer where you meet all the other students is excellent. The dedicated HCM team for the palcement are fully committed and hard work is put in to ensure the scheme runs smoothly.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 12 months experience at Goldman Sachs on your CV will never be frowned upon. As previously mentioned there is extensive training over the summer and opportunities throughout the year to sign up to as many or few courses run through the Goldman Sachs University.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

  • I have already started back on the Grad Scheme!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Throughout the summer when the summer interns are still working then there were official and unofficial socials and netowkring events. After the summer when there were just the placement students left socials tend to calm down but then you socialise more within your own team.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Usually a group going to the pub at the end of a hard weeks work and don't forget the Department drinks or Christmas Party

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It's the centre of London - it has everything!

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are plenty of sports teams and events to be involved with, I took part in the Corporate Games and spent the weekend karting on Goldman's behalf!

    4/5
