  • My colleagues were supportive and they recognised my work by rewarding me with greater responsibility. They were fun and easy going.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • All of the interns were given a residential training week at the start of the placement. This involved learning basic accounting methods plus it allowed us to meet the other interns. During the placement I was given a Buddy (an Associate) who I could go to for basic advice and support. I also had a Mentor (Senior Manager) to help provide further guidance to ensure I took away the most from my time at the firm.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My working day was 9-5.30 with few exceptions. During the day I was challenged but the workload was by no means unmanageable.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • From the first day at the clients' site I was assigned an aspect of the audit to complete given that it was only a small audit. Guidance was given, of course, but it was great to have your own piece of work to do. Once I started to prove myself, I was given more challenging parts of the audit to complete.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Accountancy wasn't relevant to my degree directly, but I learnt to better manage my time and it encouraged me to get on with my work at uni. My communication skills certainly developed during my internship.
